The upcoming River West project has amenities galore
After topping-off in March to take the title of River West’s tallest building, the 23-story apartment tower under construction at 730 W. Milwaukee Avenue has new interior renderings and a fresh name. Although earlier conceptual images showed placeholder signage with the name The Mill, the development will be officially called Avenir—the French word for “future.”
Developed by Tandem Partners and designed by Chicago architecture firm Antunovich Associates, Avenir sports a brick base topped by a glassy tower above. The design features a fifth-floor amenity level with an outdoor pool deck as well as a gym, fitness studio, and demonstration kitchen.
An 11th-floor setback provides room for an additional outdoor terrace and game room, while the top-floor coworking lounge offers sweeping skyline views. At ground level, there’s a bicycle room with easy access to the well-traveled protected bike lanes of Milwaukee Avenue—AKA the “hipster highway.”
According to the development team, pre-leasing for Avenir’s 196 rental units will begin this fall with the move-ins expected to take place at the beginning of 2020. Monthly rents start at $1,445 for a studio, $2,195 for a one-bedroom, and $2,995 for a two-bedroom unit. Prices for three-bedroom units have yet to be announced.
With developments like Avenir, the massive River District megaproject, the potential redevelopment of the Salvation Army campus, and perhaps even a casino on the way, River West is proving itself to be among Chicago’s fastest changing ‘hoods.
