A historic mansion designed by celebrated Prairie School architect George Maher hit the market in the Buena Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The 10,000-square-foot, five-bedroom home at 839 West Hutchinson Street is on the market for the first time in three decades, asking $4.5 million, according to Chicago Magazine.

Carole Cousin with @properties has the listing.

The Chicago market saw a record number of homes sell for $4 million or more last year.

Owners Jerry and Linda Meyer bought the now-110-year-old mansion in 1987 for nearly $1.5 million and made a number of updates since moving in. It occupies six city lots and was one of five in the Hutchinson Street Historic District designed by Maher.

Overall in Chicago, luxury home sales overall grew modestly in 2018. The number of homes that sold for at least $1 million rose 1.4 percent after a 10 percent jump the year before. [Chicago Magazine] — John O’Brien
