Rumble boxing gym coming to Gold Coast

New York-based boxing gym Rumble is set to open its first Midwest location in the Gold Coast. The chain backed by investors including Sylvester Stallone and Justin Bieber is set to take more than 8,000 square feet in a building that Chicago-based Newcastle is developing at 1139 North State Street. Adam Secher and Nicole Cardot of Baum Realty Group represented Rumble in the lease, while Danny Jacobson, Luke Molloy and Stephen Ansani of CBRE represented Newcastle. [Chicago Tribune]

Hardware Store demolition to clear way for $90M Onni apartment project

Onni Group is set to begin tearing down the former Clark and Barlow hardware store in River North to make way for its $90 million rental building at 353 West Grand Avenue. The city granted a demolition permit to the developer, which plans a 38-story building with 356 apartments, 261 parking spaces and ground-floor retail on the site. [Curbed]

Condemnation fight over, Mundelein looks to redevelop recycling business property

Mundelein officials have settled a condemnation fight with the owner of a recycling business whose property the village has eyed for redevelopment. The village will pay the Alan Josephsen Company more than $1.3 million for the land at 101 East Maple Avenue. Village officials want to bring in new retail or residential property on the site. Village Theater to live on, sort of, in North Side condo project

The two-story facade of the old Village Theater is being reassembled to become the base of the new Fifteen Fifty on the Park condo project from Golub & Company, CIM Group and Avoda Group. The developers are using the terra cotta and brick facade as the base of the 32-unit building at Clark Street and North Avenue. The building will feature three- and four-bedroom units priced between $1.6 and $5.9 million. [Curbed]
