Billy Dec To Close Rockit Wrigleyville After 10 Seasons

PLAYOFFS? Rockit Burger Bar is closing before MLB playoffs start.

Rockit Burger Bar will close before the MLB Postseason begins

Rockit Burger Bar in Wrigley won’t advance with the Cubs to the playoffs. The burger-centric spinoff of Rockit Ranch Production’s River North bar is closing permanently on Sunday, a spokesperson confirmed. The burger bar had erratic hours of late as Rockit Ranch’s founders split earlier this summer.

As result of that split, owner Billy Dec took control of the Wrigleyville burger bar, Underground and Sunda, the Pan Asian restaurant in River North, and its Nashville expansion. Cofounder Brad Young assumed control of the original Rockit in River North.

Dec’s spokesperson said Rockit Burger Bar’s closure continues his increased focus on bigger heavy hitters, or moneymakers. He’s also closed Bottlefork and Otto Mezzo, both in River North. Dec has been busy in Nashville, his new adopted home where’s he’s opened a second location of Sunda. He’s also working with his film production company.

Originally conceived as Rockit Wrigley in 2009, three years later Dec switched names to focus on burgers. Back in July, Dec told Eater Chicago he was open to selling the Wrigleyville location, but nothing had been finalized. He felt lucky to have owned a bar in the neighborhood in 2016 as the Cubs broke through.

“As soon as we won the World Series, I was living the dream,” Dec said earlier this summer.

That Wrigleyville dream will end in three days. Fans have until Sunday to grab a bite at Rockit Burger Bar.
