A Beard-Nominated Chef and Friends Open a New All-Day Cafe in West Town

Brothers and Sisters

Brothers and Sisters is a unique cafe and bottle shop

A taste of Madison, Wisconsin debuted today in West Town as Brothers and Sisters opened along Chicago Avenue. The market’s stocked with fine wines, local beers, and a unique array of meats and cheeses. Customers can also pull up a chair and eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner inside the space.

Co-owner Erin Carlman Weber was the events director for Iron Chef Stephanie Izard’s restaurants (Duck Duck Goat, Girl & the Goat, Little Goat). She’s friends with Jonny Hunter, a four-time Beard-nominated chef at Madison’s Forequarter. Brothers and Sister is a collaboration between those two and co-owner Derek Herbster. Herbster managed the coffee program at Portsmith, the seafood restaurant inside the Dana Hotel. He also worked with Portland, Oregon’s Stumptown Coffee Roasters.

The space has room for 27 and that includes seats at a bar. Chef Abigail Zielke worked with Hunter at Underground Food Collective. Her menu has a supper club feel with various tastes from the Upper Midwest.

It’s a small space that packs a lot of flavor. Take a look around below.

Brothers and Sisters, 2119 W. Chicago Avenue, (773) 661-1599, open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
